netgear has always been fine with me. DG834PN is a good one.

Hi,
There are loads of these around, but a few stand out. I agree with the Netgear recommendation (well established kit). Google around for these:
Netgear DG834G ADSL Modem / Wireless Router
Linksys WAG354G Gateway Modem and Wireless Router.
Both are dead good and pretty cheap -- no need to go for some unknown quantity. Yes, avoid Belkin, ha.
b. (just my opinion etc. Be sure to google around and get a good idea of peoples comments on the *exact* model of router you choose).0 -
I gave up on my Netgear DG834G after it continually lost internet connectivity. I replaced it with a Belkin which has been rock solid since.

My DG834GT lost it's internet connectivity but then I noticed that BT had upgraded the ADSL line to 8mb (previously 512k). So I updated the firmware and it's been perfect since. Something to do with supporting newer standards, perhaps the Belkin one you bought just happened to have newer firmware and so already had up to date network standards loaded onto it?0 -
I had the latest firmware on there. It turns out there is a problem where if logging is enabled on the Netgear router and the logs fill up the available space, then you lose internet access and need to power cycle the router. Too late for me now, as I have the Belkin router, but might come in useful for somebody else.

If you go for a good brand like D-Link, Netgear, Linksys etc. you can download the full user manual before you buy which is one reason that I would not touch Belkin, as their on-line support is crap! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
