i went on a warranty hunt and this wos the best deal i could find as this product includes Accidental damage coverage which is handy 4 those with small children. most i looked @ were over £100 this 1 came in @ £88.94 after adding on the vat and delivery charge.

i will warn you tho that 4 the £7 delivery charge they r taking their time in delivering it 2 me so i think i'll b complaining and asking for a reduced charge as it's only a piece of paper.

well hope this helps u new acer owners out there.

P.s. the warranty starts from the date u brought ur acer not from when u buy the warranty.

It maybe worth mentioning that you can buy the warranty packs themselves from ebay for about £45 But you have to buy the warranty and apply the pack within 3 months of the purchase of the laptop. You may get lucky applying one after the 3 months, but Acer are known to be a little picky about warranties at the best of times.

It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

    What about house insurance?

Just put the item on that as you get a years manufacturers warranty
and extended warraties are pretty awful.. so after a year thats when
    the home insurance kicks in.

depending on ur house insurance i wouldn't have thought that lappy's r covered outside of the house. also the 1 year warranty u get with them r the basic with this 1 u get collect and return as well as a 5 day turn around and covers u in the eu. i also understand that the link u provided wos based on household goods with which i totally agree the warrantys on those r not worth it as they can b replaced easy and most of the time cheaper where as if ur screen goes on ya lappy it can cost inbetween £300 and £500.

but each 2 their own i guess

On some home insurance policies you can get insurance for items outside of the home
and ofcourse car insurance would cover ant theft from a vehicle and holiday insurance is possible for some items laptop included but taking a PC on holiday is very sad.

But for business trips that hunky dory :)
