Thank you to those who suggested various schemes. We are now sorted, having gone down a step to a less `full on` package from bt

The total may have been subject to a change in their billing processes, and could resolve itself on the next bill. Are/Were you on the Low User Rental tariff and changed when they sent you a letter advising of its imminent closure0

You need to post details about your bill so that we can see what you are being charged for and on what tariff so we can advise accordingly. BT have altered billing dates recently so this can make the rental higher for this bill, but should go back to 'normal' for the next.
