Right, I know nothing about bikes what so ever, but I would like to buy a cheap and decent one for me to ride about on at the weekend and to museums and such forth.
I am sixteen (which is why the price needs to be low), and i am quite light, so i would like lightweight bike, and i am not fussed all of these gears and whatnot
I would prefer it to be quite plain, and have a cute basket to store my money, passes, books and snacks in perhaps. Oh I would also prefer to buy one in a shop (I live in London), rather than online unless there are any good recommendations.
Thank-you in advance for your time everyone

Go to an independent cycle shop and ask them if they have any second hand bikes for sale as they should be able to help you out and offer advice.
Be wary though London is an awful place to leave a bike locked up anywhere.0 -
thanks!
is there any chance you know any decent ones in London, diable?
and yes, when i get one i will beluckily for me my uncle lives literally 2 minutes away from the V&A, Science Museum and Natural History, so I could leave my bike in his house whilst i go there

Have you tried Freecycle? On our local one there are often bikes going - I got a lovely Raleigh Cameo last year.
Baskets are easy and cheap to add, so don't discount a bike because it doesn't come with one!
Ebay is worth looking at, just remember that the tattier a bike looks, the less likely it is to be targeted by thieves.

Whereabouts do you live as its the small independents that should be able to help you out and not the chain ones, there are also the markets but invariable 80% of these ones may be stolen and I find that morally wrong as I know too many people that have their bikes stolen.0 -
Do you have a council tip anywhere near you? I got my bike from the tip shop. A lot of Council tips now run shops. They make sure the bikes are in working order. I paid £15 for mine.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
