How to get rust stains out of car boot carpet?
I posted this elswhere but I'm thinking it might have been better here.
Something (no idea what) has been lying in a car boot and has left 2 sizeable rust marks on the car boot carpet.
Will they shift do you think, or are they there for good now? I suspect they've already been there quite some time.
Tried a household carpet cleaner but it didn't really help much.
Any suggestions lease?

Alternatively do what I did with my old Fiesta.
Buy a piece of regular cord carpet(I had some left
over from having new carpet fitted) take out the stained
carpet and use as a template. Trim new carpet to shape
(you will need strong scissor's or stanley knife) then replace
stained carpet in boot and lay new carpet on top.

You can buy small bottles of rust stain remover called "stain devils". As the marks are big though I doubt these would be economical in tackling the stains.0

along the same lines as raptorman's solution, why not go to a scrapyard and get the carpet from a car the same as yours?
even if you need to cut it out and leave the clips, you'll have a proper carpet, maybe even the right colour and i'd imagine you'll get it for just a few pounds.

Brush and/or vacuum the worst of it off.
Iron is mobilised in acidic conditions: Try neat white vinegar, rub it gently into the stain, leave it for maybe 30 mins (but don't let it dry out!) then rinse it off with water with just a splash of the same vinegar in it. If it comes out then rinse with clean water to remove any vinegar smell.
If this fails to shift it, then methylated spirits is a stronger solvent that should remove any more stubborn patches. Again, wipe it on neat and rinse off with water.0 -
