recieved TEN letters from intrum justitia (debt collecter), each asking for a different amount for ebay fees. this is the first time they contacted me.
only 1 of the letters has spelled my name/address correct, the others are not spelled correctly. (misspelling of certain names)
any advice on how to get them to leave me alone would be appreciated

If not, I am sure someone else here will be along soon to tell you what to do.
Let's backtrack here,
Do you mean you have received ten letters all at once or before now?
BTW, I also have an debt with IJ but, really, I don't let the idiots bother me anymore. They are bottom feeders.
i don't remember not paying ebay fees but i can't be 100% sure. i haven't sold on there in a long time. i recieved the letters all at once today. this is the first time they contacted me0 -
Merlinexcalibur wrote: »Very odd, then. Perhaps a case of 'mistaken identity'.
Well, then, if you are sure they are not not your debts then I would maybe send them the 'prove it' letter.
Might be also worth your while reading the Ebay boards as they are full of this sort of thing from IJ.
I don't let these muppets worry me anymore. I am sure others here will advise you on whatever comes next.
should i send one seperately for each letter?0 -
Merlinexcalibur wrote: »Quick reply. I think it's probably better others advise you of what to do next. I just wanted to clarify a few things.
Probably stating the obvious here but surely you would KNOW if you did owe Ebay any money by checking your online account?
Anyway, like I said. I am in the process of suing a DCA for criminal harassment, which also includes abuse of my personal data.
I mean it's really remarkably odd all this because only last night was I emailing someone about this, to report it shall we say. And also about how someone posted a letter allegedly sent to them several weeks ago on here which included my real name mispelled and it was from IJ, whilst I was online but also how my name had been mispelled. Which, I note you go to great pains to indicate in your post.
Do you work for IJ?
when i last clicked on the post it only had "Quick reply. I think it's probably better others advise you of what to do next." and when i looked it said no new replies so i didnt know you had edited your post
i have never heard of IJ until today, are you accusing me of something?
edit:also i dont "KNOW" because like i said it was years ago and the letters dont tell me the usernames and i dont use the same alias for everything so i dont even remember. i just came on here to ask for advice. youre very weird..please dont come into my thread accusing me of things0 -
Are the misspellings on the others just misspellings or are they entirely different people's names? Also are they all dated recently or are they dated over a period of time getting more threatening each time and referring to previous letters?
I think I would send one letter replying to all of them, perhaps including a copy of the letters or a refernce from each. As Merlin said you want a prove I owe this debt letter. There should be a template around here somewhere.
Alwas put at the top "I do not acknowledge any debt to your company" and don't sign your letter as it has been reported some DCAs will forge signatures.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Right.
So everyone else is in the picture here about things:
1) Someone posted a letter on MSE one Saturday afternoon, with my name which was mispelled. It was a letter apparently sent to someone's address but, for some reason, the name wasn't left out of the letter. It showed up within 10 minutes of my being online. It was reported. Apart from one letter, the rest of the name was undoubtedly my real name 'mispelled'.
2) I come back here and read your post stating mostly what I recently reported amongst other things. Because I reported that to the abuse team on MSE last night for example. Because the thing here is my email address contains my username which is also connected with an Ebay account I have in the hands of IJ now. So, you are damn right I am going to start asking certain things when I see certain particulars.
So, no one is acussing anyone but when you take those things above into consideration I will start questioning them.
Now, have a think a little why I might have begun to question things, knowing all that. How it may appear to look.
However, if you want to think I am 'wierd' for questioning something I have now seen at least twice now on here that is up to you.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

i have only opened 4 of the 10 letters but 2 are dated 14 april and 2 are dated 15 april
one letter spells 3 letters of my first name, the first initial of my middle name, and leaves out a letter of my surname, it also is adressed to a different neighborhood and doesn't say my town name.
one letter spells my first name correct but misspells my surname (N instead of a M)
one letter spells my full name correct but misses an E on the end of the name of my estate
one letter spells my full name/address correct
one letter spells only my first name and the first letter of my surname
one letter is adressed with my full name however my surname is spelled with an N instead of a M at the end
one letter is addressed to the correct address but theres an extra A in my surname
one letter has the first letter of my first name and my full middle name - no surname
2 letters have everything spelled correctly0 -

This does sound odd D1990. I haven't heard of anyone ever getting quite that many letters. I haven't heard of this company at all and as Merlin suggested on one of his posts it might also be worth looking on the ebay board on here if there are other references to them.

This isn't something I know loads about but wanted to try and give helpful advice. Hopefully someone else may come up with some more suggestions.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Yep. Whatever else happens, they shouldn't be making demands for payments without proof.
Dispute the debt in that letter, and then it is up to them to prove you owe something.;)Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
