This challenge used to run every week (thanks to Moozie and PAP) but I have not seen it in a while so I hope no one minds but I need this to keep me on track ...
Hello everyone
. Welcome to the weekly spend challenege. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.
On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track.
This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.
Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her around last year

Howdy budgeteers
I am going for £20 this week as I am trying to reduce my spends each week giving me more cash for the weekend and possibly a larger treat. This is to include anything not budgeted else where so general extras that I could do without. Think next week will be fine as long as I can get my bum in gear to make lunch to take to work as that is where most of my cash seems to go.
It is raining lots and there is even lightening here is wonderful Glasgow. I hope you are all fairing better.Weekly Spend Challenge: £0/£30

Well, I managed to stay under budget - just - with 48p left.
I'm going to try again for £20 this week, and I'm going to make sure I don't spend it all in the first day this time!
b xLooking forward to the future.0 -
Aargh I'm red!! :eek::eek:
Ach well...
I spent £6.70 on the cinema today - took t'other half to see Watchmen, so the £6.70 is his student ticket + drinks which I smuggled in from the corner shop£1.30 into the Sealed Pot too, so £8 spent today
*edited to add* This money is taken from my Entertainment budget and will be counted in this challenge but not in the NSD one as it's a budgeted for expense.0 -
just £10 for me this week, due to overspending on the weekly shop and hubby having a day off work i've only got a tenner this week0
-
Spent £9 out of this budget yesterday - saw 'La Clique' last night which was AMAZING!! Off to the pub tonight for a few games of scrabble with my friends (we're big nerds
) so will probably spend a few ££, but shouldn't be too much because I'm on the wagon atm in an attempt to save a bit of cash.
Good luck for today everyone!
*hugs* for PP - I feel your pain too!2019 Aim: Save £10,000

Hi, I'm new to this but I thought I'd give it a go.
I'm doing £20 only somehow it has to cover food as well. I've got a £5 gift card for Sainsburys, which should help a bit but the freezer is nearly empty so I have to stock up later. I have 3 baked potatoes in the cupboard as well and enough instant mash to make a bath out of so that's a start. I've just spend £1.53 on a 4 pint bottle of milk so we're down to £18.47 now. Wish me luck, I'm going to need it.0 -
Thanks for the new thread again pointy penguin - my break is to Paris. Already spent £4.76 today before I even left the country.
Good luck with the challenge everyone:jA smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Spent my full £15 last week. (well... with the exception of 45p... so I spent £14.55)
This week I have £10.50 in my purse, so that's this week's budget. I have done the shopping, so should only need a little top up bits (milk and bananas), and unless I have to pay for parking at the hospital on Wednesday, then I should still have most of it left at the end of the week...well, that's the plan anyways!Natwest CC - [STRIKE]£2545[/STRIKE] now £0 :j
Overdraft - £2668 - to be cleared by February 2010
Wedding - 11 September 20100 -
I've just had to top up my phone so that's £10 gone. On the plus side though, I've worked out a meal plan for the week that will cost me less than £5. I'm going shopping tomorrow so I'll buy all my shopping for the week then and aim not to buy any more stuff afterwards. That way, my food for the week will be free.

I have updated the first post.
Welcome ghostmadlittlemiss I have added you too. I always think the first week is the hardest after a while it just become part of the routine although I do occasionally have a wee slip.
Tixy I hope Paris is good ad you have nice weather.
ladymay I like scrabble it is by far the best board game. At uni I used to often play it in the pub as they had a board you could borrow.
f_f what did you think of Watchmen? I went to see it on Friday and the cinema was packed.
Anyway for me today it has been a rather extravagant day as I decided I needed (ok wanted) a netbook so I know have a fab and shiney blue one. It is amazing how well it works and it is very light. I hope to get lots of use out of it but this has come out of my treat cash pot that I have had for a while so I am not counting it as part of this. I also got some lunch from M&S but going to take this out of food budget so my £20 is intact.
