AN UPDATE ON MY DMP & WITH WORK...PLUS A REQUEST!!

Hi Guys
I know this info will be on here somewhere, but to save me trawling thorugh everyones thread. Could someone please give me an indication of what I need to put in my letters to creditors offering them TOKEN amounts until Payplan have set up my new amounts. Also is there something I could possibly put in asking for a refund of all their charges which has put me in an even worse position or is this pushing them too far??
Just to update you all by way, I had my meeting with my employers (RBS) on Wednesday and have had my Manager come back to me today, stating the following: A) If I was to carry on with my DMP with Payplan, then no further action would be taken against me, this would be the end of the matter.
If I deciede to take the Bankruptcy route, then I would have to attend a Disciplinary meeting with my Manager & RBS HR, due to Gross Missconduct. They would then decide whether to either give me a warning or Dismiss me immediately.
I have been given 2 weeks to decide what I want to do. DMP OR BANKRUPTCY. So they have very much put the ball back in my court again. SO I have decided to carry on with my DMP as my job means a lot to me and it helps pay the bills of course. Then perhaps in a couple of years down the line when my husbands business is doing much better, the I will write to them asking for their FULL & FINAL SETTLEMENT FIGURE. To see if I can pay them off that way.
So a little happier that my job is OK...for now!
Also I had a shirty foreign lady on the phone from Capital One today....saying that my account was in a critical condition.....Do I not know this????!!! Anyway, she was speaking so fast and I couldn't hardly understand her. So I politely asked if I could speak with someone English and stated that I WAS NOT bieng rude, but I needed to understand what was being said to me! Anyway, they said that I neede to pay them £400 per month! I said they were having a laugh..I only have £178 to split between them all. I even asked them to stop Interest & Charges, as they were making my situation worse....which they said they cannot do. At this point I lost it with them and said well don't bother calling me up again as I won't answer! and you will only be getting a £1 token payment instead of £5! Perhaps I shouldn't have said this, but it so annoys me when I have already called them loads to update them....which they HAD been nice about, also that they already are being paid some money. It's like nobody knows what the other person is doing in these departments. They get a list of all debtors and take it in turns to ring round!
Thats my rant over with today. So anyway, If anyone could help me with my first query at top of page...it would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks everyone xxx

I can only speak from my limited experience but I am doing it all over the phone. I ring them all twice a month to keep my creditors updated. I make token payments on the first of the month and so far (touch wood etc etc) I have been relatively hassle free.
I found after a couple of weeks that speaking to the right department really helped, I had got through to customer services and they were no real help and made no proper notes on "their system" so I got more calls from people I had already rung. Once I had made contact with the right department they were so much more helpful and froze the charges etc and made it worthwhile talking to them.
I know some people advocate doing everything by post but at the moment the phone is working for me so I am sticking to that.
GE Money asked me to pay an increased token payment once but I informed them that I was instructed to treat all my creditors the same and I could not favour one above the other. I stated that the token amount would remain the same and they were quite understanding (maybe I was lucky) and took the payment offered.
I hope this helps in some way.0 -
Hi Kalfy
pleased things went relatively well at work, at least thats one less thing to worry about.
Don't worry too much about capital one they are a bunch of morons on occassions doesn't matter how much you tell them they still ring. Things will work out ok im sure.
Well done so far

Just put something like " i am writing to you in connection with my account number !!!!!.
I am enclosing a cheque/postal order for £1 as a token of my good intentions and to demonstrate that i intend to reslove this matter.
You may be aware that i have contacted Payplan who will be dealing with my debts on my behalf. they will contact you in due course to discuss the situation. I will keep you updated and continue to send you a token payment on a regular basis until such time as Payplan start to make payments to you on my behalf. In the meantime i would be grateful if you could remove my contact phone numbers from your database and correspond with me only by letter. I give an undertaking to respond within 7 working days of receipt of any correspondence from you. i will not discuss this matter on the phone"
Hope this helps. i used something like this and it seemed to be ok. I added the bit about contact by mail as this might help your issue with capital one.

She says that if she opts for a DMP then her job is safe but if she opts for bankruptcy they could possibly dismiss her for gross misconduct.Mortgage-free wannabe!0
