Pre-pay meter

British Gas have just changed my pre-pay electricity meter and my costs have rocketed to £5 per day! How do I go about changing to another supplier? USwitch.com says I can't change becaus it is a pre-pay meter - is this the case? If so, what else can I do?

Cheers

Simon

  • yes you can change suppliers. all they do is send you a new pre-pay card throught the post..do you realise though that you are paying extortionate standing charges for the gas meter. i.e roughly £15 a month

Ebico are excellent!! Well worth a look and certainly one of the cheapest energy suppliers on te market.

They don't charge extra if you want to pay using a pre payment metre!!
  • Many thanks to all who replied. I have applied to Equipower and it will give me great pleasure to stick 2 fingers up to British Gas!

Good for you Sadsi...something in the news today, that GB has become more competitive with new players in the market, yet still 40% stay with ye oldie British Gas....AND..the continent is even worse with 90% still with the original power company suppliers. Makes our bills dearer, apparently.
Equigas is my next provider when I have received all the winter rebates from Powergen.
  • time for a change me thinks fed up paying BG all this money
