Mini Pots for Wedding Favor -- HELP Please

Options
Hello
I would really like these as wedding favors ----> http://www.chineseweddingsbytheknot.com/Chinese-Weddings/DIY_13258/detailview.aspx?type=3&STYLE=CHINESE&MSDVISIT=1&id=13258

Any ideas where I can buy similar pots at the cheapest price. I had a look around Ikea today but no joy.

Help much needed
Thanks

  • when is your wedding day?

these bamboos grow very quickly. my suggestion is to buy some bamboo plants and cultivate them yourself if you have about 3 months to go before your wedding.

you will need 1 'mother' plant for every 10 baby plants. U can normally get bamboo plants in pots of about 3-5 'sticks' of bamboo. Buy small pots from burseries or potteries, with some really good fertile soil. Cut the bamboo into 4 inch lengths (baby sticks). fill the small pots with soil and stick a baby bamboo stick into each pot. the roots should grouw in about 3 weeks.

sorry if my explanation is a bit confusing. i am not good with gardening/botanic terms.
  • If you can make your own then you can get plain egg cups which look like the pots which you could use :)

I needed some tiny pots at Christmas (to put home made chocolate mousse in, as part of a "trio of desserts") and ended up finding some lovely, brand-new, silver coloured glass tealight holders in a charity shop which did the trick nicely. They're about the same size as the small pots you're looking for, so maybe tealight holders might be an option?

You might find that searching for "tealight holder" or "votive holder" on eBay might yield some results. Or you could even put a wanted advert on your local Freecycle, as I have often seen bulk lots of tealight holders being given away (after a wedding) on there.

  • Hey guys for the ideas.

The wedding is not set yet, but will probably be in August. I am looking to do about 200-250. I have had a look at the ideas which are great but im looking at a pot which is roughly 2inches by 2inches, give another inch. This is cuz i'm only sticking one bamboo stalk in, and the candle tea lights would be too big.

I might go look at egg cups - I'll keep a look out at the supermarket.

I saw those in Ikea Julie H, they had them in frosted white, and red, the red would be good for a chinese wedding because of the luck that colour is supposed to bring. They were 87p each., and they have loads in the Croydon branch if thats any good to you.
