3 Mobile Broadband

I'm interested in getting a mobile broadband connection for when I'm away at weekends. My brother has a 3 contract phone and is eligible for a discount on 3 mobile broadband contracts. However would I receive his texts messages etc when I am connected to the Internet? I ask this because on the 3 website it mentions about receiving your text messages when connected, and obviously I don't want this to happen.
Also I realise the connection may be bad in the area I intend to use it, I presume the service to return the dongle (within 14 days) if you don't want the service is relatively easy?
Cheers.

Also - with the return policy, is it possible to just take it back to a 3 store or do you have to post it off?0

I wouldn't bother with the dongle, but just use a 3 phone as a modem. I've been doing this for a year now and have experienced no problems. For £5 a month internet add-on I get around 3Gigs and none of the hassle as reported by many users of their 'mobile broadband'.
Speed is around 460kbps Hsdpa.
But I live in Edinburgh, and coverage is good here; I've heard that it can be quite poor elsewhere.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

foofi22: You get another sim card with another number. You won't get anything related to your brother. Speed is reasonable for a mobile service but I would not call it "broadband" by any stretch of the imagination.
Dreamnine: Beware, unless you pay the £15 "mobile broadband" addon, they can (and occasionally do) charge you £2/mb up to 6 months in arrears! It's specifically in the terms and conditions not to use your phone for this purpose. Although I've done it on occasion and not had any problem either. Just bear in mind it might.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Thanks, I've heard of that, but I use a PAYG sim and haven't had any problems. Torrent sites are blocked, though.LeeSouthEast wrote: »foofi22: You get another sim card with another number.
