Buses in Brighton

I am staying at the Brighton Travelodge (Preston Rd, not Seafront) this Saturday night. So I will be looking to use the bus service to get into the centre of Brighton. On the Travelodge website it says to use Bus 5/5A, so I have printed out the timetable for this. Now possibly a silly question, do you just pay the driver or do you buy a ticket in advance from a machine, can you get returns and if so is there any saving?

Also is there still the park and ride (for the Sunday) from the Football/Athletics stadium?

How much roughly do these cost?

Thanks for your help.

  • You pay the driver on the day, you can get an all day style ticket, and you can get to the footie ground by standard bus.

Have a look at www.buses.co.uk for more information

It's not far from the Preston Road travelodge to the centre of town, I would say about 10-15 minutes walk. Another 5 minutes will get you to the seafront. Brighton is not a huge place and most of the 'amenities' are pretty centralised, so you might be better off walking.

I have no idea about cost of the buses but you just pay the driver when you get on board. Returns are available. I don't think the park and ride runs on Sunday though.

If you're staying in the Preston Road travelodge, then there's plenty of on-street free parking in the area. Beaconsfield Villas, Havelock Road, Preston Park Avenue etc. - all wide roads with no restrictions on parking.

Thanks, I don't want to get to the footy ground as such, but they used to run a park and ride from there. So on the Sunday, after checking out of the Travelodge I would like to drive to the park and ride and use that to get into Brighton.
