cashback or loyalty cards- paying bills

I am sure this as been mentioned but I just need a clear help regarding it/
I've noticed some members have mentioned they use their credit cards to pay their utility bills monthly, and that by doing this they get cashback/loyalty points depending on which card they use.

Can you please give me some advice to which ones are the best ones?
Do I need to have a standing order/DD to pay my card each month or can I just do it as I am doing now (online before it is due)
What is the average you can make doing this over a year?

Maybe I am wrong, but I never heard that utility bills can be paid by CC. The only exception I know is TV license and council tax, but this depends on your local council. Yes, some CCs (MBNA, for example, that includes Conran cashback card) allow you paying bills, but this is very expensive way that overwhelms all cashback.

Best Cashback Credit Cards , Best Credit Card Rewards. Best cashback for low/average spending is 1%.
