Directory Enquiries in reverse????? Is there one

Does anyone know of any web pages that do the opposite of directory enquirires and 192.com - ie you just input the phone number and it tells you who or what company it is?

Thanks for your help!

This is an industrial strength computer programme called 'Names and Numbers'.
It's expensive to buy, but if you just want to check something now you can download a free trial.

The older versions of UK Info Pro used to allow reverse searching. I think there was Daily Mail style outrage and they removed the functionality in later releases from about 2001 onwards.
If its a firm thats been around for a while then try and score an old copy at a computer fair!

What's needed is for someone to list the contents of all directories in conventional 'name' address' 'number' format on a single website and then anyone could 'google' that one site for the target number. Doubtless as BT (or whoever) 'owns' these lists you can't just put them up there like that without permission.
