Any Negatives In Buying 2nd Import Car

Hi

we have been looking at a Honda CRV at a garage, its an "N" reg, everything seems ok, but then the garage told us it was an import car. We would like to know if there are any negatives into buying this, ie does it effect insurance, or anything else that we should be aware of

It will probably make a small difference on your insurance.
Also you should pay slightly less than for a equivalent uk spec model.
Check that it has gone through all the necessary tests so that you can drive it here legally. Also check you are happy with the mileage. With only foreign service records to back it up this can sometimes be difficult to verify.

If you account for these things and budget accordingly there shouldn't be too much to worry about.

N Reg?

Hardly of the art but when did thedy start producing them for the UK market and was there any change in design of body panels? If so it might affect insurance.

But for an N reg car you will probably only be looking at 3rd Party Fire and Theft or it might be the better option if insurance is expensive.

For a car that age I would check it out but wouldn't unduly worry me.
