We will be flying to NZ later in the year, and was looking at Changi Airport wesite.
They have a swimmingpool and thought thats a good idea, take the children swimming after been on a plane all that time, have a shower and change into pj`s, then they might sleep on the last leg! Well I can dream.
But has anyone done it? Or any good ideas for children 4 and 7 to do whilst on a 3 hour transit- apart from finding a quite spot for them to run round!
Not booked flights yet- but looking like Singapore or Cathy Pacific, so ides for Hong Kong too
Thank you- you well travelled lot

Have you looked at Evaair?
We've just booked with them for December and got a far better price than any other airlineI haven't got one!0 -
Never heared of them, can you give me some details please?
We live up north, so Although Singapore Airlines are more £50 for the trip-wow, with cathy we have to fly to LHR, which i would rather not do, but price always comes into it, would do if savings were big enoughApril Grocery challange £175

Just watch out for their ears ... not too much water so it's not a pain to equalise in the plane.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
Looked at Evaair`s website, flight is £1k more than I have been quoted for cathy- and I would have cost of getting to LHR aswell, never mindApril Grocery challange £175

It really is a fantastic airport - totally unlike anything the UK has to offer. I was amazed at the range of leisure facilities available. You could get a foot massage (or even both feet!). I didn't go swimming and if you only have 3 hours you'll probably want to stay at the airport.
I stopped over for 24 hours on my return from Oz last year. It was Chinese New Year and Singapore was fantastic! I booked a fab hotel on the net for £55, right by the river. Did Raffles for a cocktail; supper on the river; city tour; swim in hotel pool and lunch; shopping on Orchard Rd and a river cruise before my flight home. An exhausting 24 hours in the heat and humidity but if I had the time over again I would do the same!
Have a fantastic time!0 -
The swimming Pool is in the transit Hotel in the airport, the website advises it for a stay of 3-5 hours, but i`m sure we would have enough time.April Grocery challange £175

Hi Swizzle,
We had decided to go Business Class and the flight with Eva Air was £2,000 cheaper than Cathay and £3,000 cheaper than Singapore!
Sorry if I didn't help you this timeI haven't got one!0 -
swizzle - Personally, I would choose Singapore Airlines over Cathay Pacific without any hesitation, whatsoever! The fleet has brand new Boeing's, the service in economy is excellent with proper cutlery and the entertainment system is fantastic. Changi Airport is one of the best airports in the world, and the city is nice too.
I was there in summer last year, and Singapore Airlines were providing stop-overs for US$28 - with a wide range of hotels. As you are travelling with kids - you can easily spend a day at Sentosa Island. I would second the tips mentioned by funnylittlewoman and add a few more e.g. a visit to Little India & Chinatown, Boat & Clarke Quay for night-time entertainment and a walk down the Esplanade and get your pictures near the Merlion.
However, if you are going in Jun-Jul and stopping-over - weather will be quite humid and the summer sale will be on, so it will be very busy. Some of the stores and shops do not open until 10-11am. Also, I would advise you against eating at the food stalls in Orchard Rd.0 -

The rooftop pool in Terminal 1 is also accessible directly from the terminal building.
It doubles as a smoking area too!0
