Lloyds CC really fee free?

Options
They offer 0% for 9 months and BT's are fee free according to this site but in their T&C's it mentions a 2% fee ?

Usually fee for introductory offer BTs is shown explicitly is summary box while BT fee in T&C refers to BTs made outside introductory offer. I have a feeling that they introduced 2% for the Platinum card just now as I don't remember it being in place a few days ago. I think that their Amex card and Create card still don't charge for BTs made within first 6 weeks : http://www.lloydstsb.com/credit_cards/credit_card_comparison_table.asp :
    * ... For each Advance and Platinum Card balance transfer there is a 2% fee (minimum £2.50).

Yep, looks like they've sneaked in a balance transfer fee. B*ggers.

I does annoy me the way that the banks are delightfully vague about BT fees.

Looks like Martins list needs updating
  • I phoned before I applied and was told the fee only applies after 6 weeks. Free before.
I will confirm before I do my BT as soon as I get my card and report back.
Anyone else been charged a BT fee recently?

Information has been already updated here: http://www.stoozing.com/0fees.htm
  • Just to Confirm. Lloyds have introduced a fee on its platinum card for online applications. However you'll still be able to apply in branch and get it fees free.

  • Got my card yesterday and phoned for BT today. No hesitation that there was no fee but I suspect that was because I applied just before it was rumoured about fees.
Looks like I just made it!

Does this mean as long as you ring them and arrange the transfer by the 6th week or does the balance have to be transferred onto the account by the 6th week?

    Can anyone confirm?

  • I suspect that if you applied before they changed the bt fees rule, as long as you transfer within 6 weeks of the account opening, you should be OK. New applications seem to be slapped with 2% going by the other messages in this thread.
Best bet is to call them.

I didn't make myself very clear. I have confirmed that I won't be charged for the BT but I am waiting to arrange a transfer as I want to do it as late as possible ie. near to the 6 week end date as the 9 months at 0% only starts from then.
I just wondered whether they meant the transfer had to be completed by the 6 week or I had to have arranged it by then...I will ring them :o
