Makes you wonder why anyone uses VM for voice telephony!
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

We are with Virgin not out of choice (is what was in when we moved house) and have had no fun with it at all BUT recently have moved onto their minutes price plan. we now pay £52 per month for line rental, broadband and up to 800 minutes of calls per month (there are cheaper deals if you want up to 400 or 200 minutes I think). This is brilliant for us as it includes all mobiles and international calls and 08 numbers. It is fab as we make tons of long international calls. May be worthwhile for others in a similar situation? I know it might be possible to do it cheaper with the system where you dial in a code, but when we call so many different countries and they are not all free with the same company through those codes, it is definitely the easiest way for us.

 You pay £348 a year for just that call bundle alone, possibly not money saving.

I guess this raises the question for all other telephone providers, we are with talk talk, and have confirmed they do not plan to include free 0845 or 0870 to packages where geographic numbers are free, but if enough people start complaining or leaving, then perhaps they will have a rethink...until then we still have 'saynoto0870' which is a godsend!

That would have been about the time when an internal? statement was published saying they (Comcast/NTL/Virgin)needed to target getting an average of £40/month for every customer in order to be profitable
    Awaiting a new sig

since those minutes cover nearly every country around the world, if they are calling one of the more expensive destinations they will be quids in, Other option they can do through is the o2 pay as you go I think call your country. Where they topup £10 = 50 minutes, £15 = 100 minutes, and £30 = 200 minutes, They will than have the £30 credit to use how they see fit. Hence can choose for example the home addon for £5 and still have £25 credit to use. Than take out a vodafone pay as you go dongle for internet if not heavy internet usage. Lastly if they than need a landline can talk to sky, post office, BT or even virgin and ask just for a landline deal
