I don't know about 5.5% LOB deal, but I have 'advance' too and wanted to apply for 0% Lloyds TSB Amex card. They told me that I can apply, but:

    1. They will split my current credit limit between two cards
    2. I cannot have 0% introductory offer because I am not a new customer.
    3. I can close my 'advance' account and re-apply in 6 months (at least).

  • It is possible to have two or more cards from the same bank but it is not possible to transfer balances between cards from the same bank (at least at the promotional rate).

Just to clarify the Lloyds thing. I work for them and...

You can have more than one LTSB credit card but, as previously posted, your existing credit limit / maximum allowed limit will be split between the 2 (or more) cards.

With the 0% offer as far as i'm aware the only restriction is that you cannot transfer a LTSB balance to another LTSB card. There should be nothing stopping you taking advantage of the 0% for 9 months so long as the balance transfer is coming from a non LTSB credit card.
Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right! :D

What I know is only about Lloyds TSB Amex:
    • You cannot apply for this card online.
    • When I phoned the number given for current Lloyds TSB customers they sent me application form by post.
    • In this application form there is no anything about introductory 0%. This is why I phoned again and was redirected to Card Services 0870 01062622. The information I was given is quoted in my post above.
The application form went to the recycling bin.
Possibly, it is different with Platinum card ...

Just want to post how this story continued and some facts that can be usefull for other Lloyds TSB credit card holders.
    • I had Lloyds TSB Advance card with £0 balance (after 12 months 0% offer that expired in the begining of January).
    • On Jan 25th (next day after my post above!) I received invitation from Lloyds to apply for Lloyds Amex card. Enclosed application form stated 0% on BTs for 9 months, no BT fee.
    • Next day the form was sent out by Recorded mail.
    • Yesterday I received a PIN code and a confirmation that my application was seccessfull. Credit limit is £1 (!) that means that I can only transfer part of my limit with other Lloyds card to the new card.
    • The card arived today. During activation I asked to close my Advance card and switch its credit limit to the new card.
    • Closing department offered me new 0% for 6 months that I regretfully turned down.
    • Lloyds TSB Amex department tried to persuade me that I am not eligible for 0% offer because I am an existing customer. As I had a copy of the application form and the credit agreement both stating 0% for 9 months, it was very easy to defeat them.
    • Full creldit limit minus £100 is on the way to my Egg Money card.
Thank you, Lloyds TSB, for extra 9 months in addition to 12 months!
