Anyone using the Natural Family Planning Method?

Hiya, was thinking about starting to use the Natural Family Planning method as I have been on and off the oral contraceptive pill (mostly on!) for the last 16yrs and I am sure it is this that is responsible for my total lack of libido.
I've identified and eliminated all other possible causes and it's the pill that is left, not forgetting, of course, that lack of sex drive is one of the possible side effects recorded.
I've read up on the above method and it seems you need to go on a course with a practitioner(!?) so I'm gonna research, this week, what's in my area (York). I can actually understand why cos it does look like there's quite a lot to learn but I also like the idea of not putting anymore synthetic hormones or chemicals in my body, so the extra responsibility doesn't bother me - I just want my mojo back! :j
If anybody out there has or is using this method, I'd be extremely grateful for any advice or thoughts you might have for me.
Big thanks xx

I would honestly think the palaver of this method will kill any last ounce of mojo you have left

Have you thought of the mirena coil? Highly effective as BC, once inserted thats it for five years, no charts to keep or anything, you can have sex any time of the month without worry and best of all one the the side effects of the mirena is INCREASED libido:j:j:j
Seriously though you may perhaps want to mention to your Gp or well woman clinic your lack of libido as there may be something you havent identified and eliminated.0 -
We use this method, or a close one. I have the book that goes with this site: http://tcoyf.com/ The book is fantastic and really empowering.
I was on the pill for a decade and was fed up of freaking out every month as my periods got later and shorter and basically not really there. Now I pay for it with P-M stuff but at least I know where I am
My doc was useless regarding the libido, only suggesting a vitamin... B or D I think? That just gave me shockingly greasy skin all the time. I've decided my problems are due to laziness, enjoying sleep too much, and both of us being stressed all the time. I know where you're coming from feeling more in control - but going cold turkey may not be the solution you're hoping it to be, although I've noticed a slight improvement.
We don't have kids yet but it wouldn't be the end of the world if I fell preggers... although that's not the plan we're following
My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I'm going to say a couple of things, and I hope they are not seen as contradictory.
1. MEDICAL ADVICE
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board). If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.
2.
I would commend those words to the OP: if it's essential not to get pregnant, please DON'T rely on any single method, but especially not this one. Back it up with barrier methods: condom or cap.frivolous_fay wrote: »We don't have kids yet but it wouldn't be the end of the world if I fell preggers...
3. Don't try to teach yourself this method from a book. (Pauses to :hello: to DS3.) :rotfl: Although to be fair I was in frivolous fay's position at the time: we thought we probably did want a 3rd child, just not sure when.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Just gonna resurrect this! I am same as op. I can rely on just this and not worry if we do fall preg as we plan to have a baby in the next 6 months. I have looked everywhere and can't find a teacher. Do the family planning clinic teach this? Any other ideas of who teaches it?0

Hi there, I have been doing this with success for over a year now.. I didn't go to classes, Just bought and read the book. I had to read it twice to absorb all the information, but once you get used to it, it becomes second nature. why dont you get the book and give it a go?
my opinion is you dont really need the classes.0
