Cuttlebug - Help Please

Hello I do hope you will be able to help me,
I have just got a cuttlebug:rotfl: Yipee!
BUT I am having problems using it & would appreciate your advice.
It came with a 'postage stamp' cutter and 4 small embossing folders & I couldn't wait to get started...........
I tried a few cut outs to start with but I couldn't get it to cut where I wanted because the die was slipping all over the place and the card was nearly as bad! (the embossing was better 'cos it's in the folder)
So my question is how can I get everything to stay in place whilst I load it into the machine? Have I missed something? is there a secret method? I feel like using 'blue tack' or something but am scared of breaking the machine?
Yours hopefully........

Hi Marg, you will soon learn to love your "bug":D if I am using the small cutting die you mentioned I tend to work standing over the machine
place the A plate on the machine
place the B plate on the machine
place the die in the centre of the B plate (foam side up)
card over die
place second B plate over card
turn handle;)
I think because you are making the "sandwich" on the actual machine ledge there is less slippage
Hope this helps0 -
Hi marg,
i work in the same way as DSS does as the "flap" works as a great shelf.
It does take a bit of practise you just have to guide your sandwich so all the plates stay on top of each other until the rollers grab them
HTHOfficially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Hi, I made a few mistakes when I first got my 'bug' ....
even to ruining a die as I made the sandwich A + B +B.... then put the die and card on top, then ran it through the machine.... not a clever thing to admit too eh!!!
Please persevere with the bug... type cuttlebug into utube and loads of tutorials will come up, its sometimes better to watch and learn than to read and learn.0 -
I find that the dies are a bit expensive for them ..i bought 2 new embossing folders yesterday and used 1 tonight ..problem is what do i do with it now ..if i put toppers or anything on it will look odd any tips?~We are all going to hell and guess who Is driving the bus~*Norn Iron club Member 294* (Hi, we’ve had to remove part of your signature. Hello Madmam
Hard to help as I don't know what you've embossed and I've only just got my cuttlebug.
I plan to make toppers or try colouring the raised bits if I emboss the whole front of a card. Or emboss some foil card & stick on a card as it is. Can't wait 'til all this Christmas fuss is over & I can play!
Have you checked out the link above - it's a beginners card making area with some fantastic pictures of cards and help & advice - loads of ideas too!0 -
If you want the embossed parts 'coloured in' you can use an ink pad inside the embossing folder, lightly tap it all over the folder on the inside then put your paper in, run this through the bug as usual and it will come out with slightly different shades on the high and low spots. Their fairly easy to clean with baby wipes afterwards. Hope this makes sense.Belly Monkey arrived 19.11.09 :j0
