Hi There
Im a first time user so dont know if im on the right page...!!!
Im trying to find out if anyone else has logged onto HSBC online banking to check there accounts and has been given a "false screen" for want of a better word. It showed us we were in credit when in fact our accounts had been emptied by some sort of fraudster. Our credit cards had been maxed out aswell but none of this showed up. had it we would have been straight back (we live abroad) to sort it out. We have also been talking to 3 members of "staff" in the complaints dept for 3 months who also failed to mention our accounts being emptied.... Now we are back in the U.K. these people seem not to exist when we call....!!! Sounds confusing.... trust me it is...!!!
Also when we went into a branch they have played it down like we are making it up.... Merry christmas

The only way I can think of this happening is if the fraudsters had made transactions that were authorised but hadn't debited your account at the time you looked on Internet Banking.0

I have never had a 'false screen' as you describe it. I always log in by manually typing www.hsbc.co.uk, I hope you weren't fooled into using a website link contained in a spam email?
My other thought is the same as CDes, that the transactions had not yet been processed. I have noticed myself that some transactions can take around five days to show up whereas others are almost immediate. The joys of the UK banking system.
Over what period of time has this happened?0 -
This was going on for over 6 months....!!! We could not see the fraudulent debits for the entire time.... We always logged in using the correct site....!!! When we phoned to find out why our cards no longer worked nobody informed us that this was going on and actually told us we were in credit to the ammount we expected... They just said it was a mistake and they would rectify it.....!!! Needlesss to say now we are back in the U.K they have no idea what we are talking about....0

So are they still saying that your accounts are in credit or have they finally said that fraudulent claims have been made.
I've never had a false screen for HSBC and if they were saying you were in credit it would suggest that their records were up to date when you phoned which is strange....
Have you escalated the complaint with HSBC - also do you have any screen shots of your account being in credit?2020 Mortgage-Free Wannabes #20 £1495.03/£2760 OP0 -
We are now being told that our accounts are overdrawn as they seem to have been for some months....!!! HSBC are investigating but thet say it depends on whether they can trace the phone calls we made... We have given times dates etc. and are hoping that our calls from abroad to staff who no longer seem to exist are gonna go in our favour....!!!0
