Spoke to Primus Saver today about their Mobile Rates not being on website. They are going to send them to me.
They told me about a new free mobile bolt on called Penny Mobile not yet on website.
Which allows you to call mobiles any network from your Landline for just 20p (capped)for up to 20 minutes. Not great for short calls but cheaper then 18185 for calls of 3 minutes or more peak and evenings.
It can be added when you sign up,or by CS if your an existing customer.
If you have queries about Primus Saver you can mail them at savers@primustel.co.uk they do reply, and they dont charge for info not on website.

Just to clarify things the Penny Saver Mobile bolt on is available free 24/7,365. Not just for E&W calls
Other suppliers like BT and TT want £1.50p a month for cheap mobile call bolt ons. So this makes this offer even more competitive.0 -

Anyone got any more details about this bolt on ? There's no details on their website (not that there's any details of Primus Saver Option 2 either ...)
Would like to know a bit more before I start emailing themI'd be happier on holiday in Brittany than being at work !0 -

Does anyone know if they have an alternative option that doesn't charge 20p for the first 20 minutes of a mobile call?0 -

Planet Talk sent me a futher e-mail about Primus Saver Option 2. She said:"When you call during the day to a landline it is 4p minimum call charge, however when you call a mobile or NGN number then there is a 7p minimum call charge."
A 7p minimum call charge for mobile calls and non-geographic calls seems a bit excessive, I wonder if she could have got this wrong?
She also explained that the "Penny Mobile" option allows the first 20 minutes of a call to cost only 20p - so this saves money if otherwise most of your mobile calls would cost around 20p or more. For me the "Penny Mobile" option would work out rather expensive, so I have ignored it in my calculations.
It seems there are also free calls to other Primus users, which is good to know, and that the day time rate doesn't start until 8am (instead of the normal 6am) - however my calculations show that the latter would only save me about 50p per year.
The best thing is the low call rate for daytime calls of 2p per minute, billed per second, and the totally free calls in evenings and weekends.0 -
I have now input the details for Primus Saver 2 into my spreadsheet and calculated what the tariff would do to my phone bill.
Given the low cost of local and national calls (2p per minute with 4p minimum during the day, otherwise completely free) and the reasonable mobile phone costs (subject to 7p minimum though), I confidently expected Primus Saver 2 would work out cheaper than Toucan 2forAll.
So I'm suprised to report that, for me, Toucan 2forAll works out slightly cheaper. If I were to put all my calls through Toucan then on a £190 annual bill (including line rental), Toucan works out £5 cheaper for me. If I use 1899 and 18185 to save as much as possible with either Toucan or Primus Saver 2, then Toucan works out £19 cheaper.
Why is this? Well, I would save at least £7 per year on local and national calls, and would save on other calls too with Primus Saver 2, but that is far outweighed for me by the fact that I would save £24 per year on line rental with Toucan.
In addition to the £5 or £19 saving with Toucan, I would get £10 free calls for joining Toucan and £10 for getting others in my family to join - so overall I will probably save at least £49 over the first year by choosing Toucan instead of Planet Talk.
It will be worth me checking again in a years time, when I might find I'm making more / longer calls and benefit from the cheaper overall calls via Primus Saver 2. Note, my calculations do show my calls currently would work out slightly (£5) cheaper with First Telecom than with Planet Talk. However, Primus Saver 2 would probably be better value for money, because for the £5 extra I could make loads of evening and weekend calls for free!
Here are the tariff details in case the Planet Talk sales person has told me wrong (if so, please let me know):-
Evening and Weekend landline calls - totally free
Day landline calls - 2p per minute, minimum 4p charge
Non Geographic calls - same price as BT except for 7p minimum charge
Mobile phone calls - prices as per my earlier post (see above), with 7p minimum charge
Free calls to other Primus users (similar to Toucan and First Telecom)0 -

Please note, free talk is different to saver option 2 so the free calling to other primus users is on free talk only and not saver option 2.
