Does anyone know how to reset the "insp" indicator on a skoda octavia please.
I's really bugging me and it doesn't understand "no I'm NOT getting you serviced"

I had this problem with the Passat - they use the same component. Do NOT be fooled by the INSP warning - it does NOT mean your car needs a service. German cars are very safety aware. If your car needs a service, the word OIL will appear where INSP is currently displayed. This is if an oil-change service is needed. OIL1 will appear when a major service is due. The INSP display is purely there to remind you to inspect the car before driving off - I checked with the main dealer and a fellow petrolhead with a Passat. Hope this helps! :D

I forgot to say, but I guess you realised the **** in the message is that forum's anti-swear software being a bit over zealous and should read "knob".

I'm sure it is somewhere in the owners manual. I used to have a Polo with a similar system and instructions on how to reset it where in the owners manual. As a last resort, you could call your local dealer and ask them. You are not obliged to get the car serviced at a dealer so they can't say they wont tell you.

Here's another description of the process. Definitely attributed to an Octavia. I couldn't create a link to this one:

For oil press and hold the right hand button on the cluster - oil will appear in the display - release right hand button then turn left hand button clockwise until
    appears.

For insp press and hold right hand button - turn on ignition - release button then press and release button again - insp will appear in the display - turn left hand button as before until
    appears.

note: if you're clearing the insp service sometimes it's neccessary to clear the oil service afterwards (if it wasn't done at oil service)

Lorian, thank you, thank you and lots more thank yous.
It worked and now my Dad is a very happy Octavia driver. He bought the car off me.
I had put up with it flashing at me for months but it was driving Dad up the wall (not literally of course)
    Thanks again
