3 Mobile - Old Paid-Up Contract, New Debt?!?!?!?

BAsically, out of the blue, I got a letter today from 3, saying that they'd passed on a debt of £21.63 to Lowell's/mackenzie Hall. Included with this was a letter from said Lowell's saying the same thing.
Obviously, I was livid :mad: This related to a supposed debt on a contract that ended 2-3 years ago, was paid by direct debit, and was then replaced by a new contract once ended. This is the first contact I've had from 3 about this.....ever !!! As 3 had complete control over the payment of this account, i.e. direct debit, if for some strange reason they under-charged me, whose fault is it anway ?!?!?!?? Why have they never contacted me before now ?!?!?!?? HOW THE H*LL CAN THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS ?????

It happened to me as well a few months ago.....
I received a phone call the same day I received a letter saying there was an amount outstanding from a now defunct contract, I knew the account had been paid up as it was my now ex hubbies phone (contract in my name) and he had to have the account cleared before he was allowed to change it over to his name which he did in my very own kitchen as a follow on to my conversation to the chap at 3.
I also pointed out that 3 have a policy not to upgrade phones if there is any kind of debt on the account, including the current bill and I have upgraded 3 times on my own account and also taken out another contract for my son and upgraded on that 3 times since that time plus after receiving their letter, I contacted 3 regarding it and they had absolutely no record of monies owing from that number!
They ran off with their tails between their legs and for the moment, I have not heard anything else although I expect something to come through my door every day.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I have had exactly the same experience this week. Fuming!!!!!! I finished my contract in 2007 1st of March, they took what I assumed was my last payment on 6/3/07. Didn't hear a thing from them until I got this letter. What's more, I have checked my credit report and if shows as settled. I have phoned Three who say I needed to speak to M H. I also spoke to Lowell and they said that Three may have canceled our DD's before the last months calls were taken?! Anyway I have paid it as was only £21.02 and can't really be doing with the hassle. But I think when I get a moment I will write a letter to Three. Just to let you know the numbers on the letter for MH are useless. They answer quicker if you phone

I have an unrecorded enquiry from Lowell Financial showing on my Credit Expert report - I'm just waiting for one of these letters despite the fact I've never had a 3 account!
