Dont go for Moben. I've just had a rep here to measure up my kitchen for a quote (which is literally 10ft by 10ft) and it came to £6,000 and that was including a promotion which gave me £2,000 off (so it would have been £8,000 without that). I dread to think what any normal sized kitchen would have cost.

Doing the same myself and agree with black-saturn, avoid Moben & Magnet. I researched and found a reputable, helpful company called Selffit https://www.selffit.co.uk also cloisters direct. They both have plenty of choice and most importantly if you know how many cabinets etc. you want the price list is online. Worth pushing them for discounts.
    Good Luck

i have to admit that we had a kitchen from wickes, just for cheepness at the time, but we took all the details into the local showroom and they did all the rest, we picked the kitchen we liked and they designed it and i have to admit its the best kitchen i've ever had!!

i did fit it myself, and i found the work quite simple and straight foward, although i had chippie friend do all the fancy final bits ect

the whole lot excluding kitch sink and taps only cost £860! a complete bargin in my book!

give a try, you might be surprised... i know i was!!

In my last house I had a new kitchen from MFI, it wasn't one of their flat pack kitchens, the units were ready made & solid wood. I'd happily buy from them again in the future for the quality. The ripping out of the old kitchen & fitting the new was quite inexpensive, but the fitters only worked from 10.15am-3pm so it took them the best part of a week to get the job done & I was left overnight with no kitchen sink which was a real bind. Washing up in the bath isn't my thing!

In my present house I have a Magnet kitchen which I'm extremely happy with. I recently ordered an extra unit from them to fill a space where the tumble dryer had been & it arrived within 2 days. These units came ready made & not sure if they do flat pack kitchens, so they are not the cheapest out there, but quality is excellent.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Moban & Kitchens Direct are the same company...... Stay well clear of them, i used to fit for them... I like MFI......

I've had kitchens from Homebase and ikea in 2 properties that I have updated. Both were fine, quality was ok and prices were excellent.

I've just ordered a B&Q Select kitchen. It is not the cheapest (The B&Q IT Kitchens are over 100% cheaper), but I think it looks very good in the show room.
  • Ikea looks the best value for me. We worked out our whole kitchen with there own kitchen planner, which admitidly isnt massive would cost about 6-700 pounds maximum without fitting
    Waddle you do eh?
  • thanks for your replies - so far had someone from kitchens direct round (made the appointment before reading your replies!) and i wasn't impressed. the units etc looked fine, but due to cost they tried to sell me half a kitchen (ie no wall units - i didn't need them apparently)!!

currently waiting on a quote from a local kitchen company that seems reasonably hopeful....if not i'll just go the the buy it myself and find a seperate fitter option.
