Amex Coverage ?

I am thinking of switching to Amex (probably the new Nectar card) but am wary there are many(?) retailers/internet shops etc. that still do not accept Amex? Is this true? What are others' experiences? Any advice welcome!

Don't switch! Have Amex and at least one of Visa or Mastercard cards.

Thanks for your guidance. I shall apply for a Nectar blue and find a Visa with decent cashback - any ideas?
