stoozing advice needed urgently please

Options
0% deal with virgin ends in feb 2006. applied to hsbc for 0% for 9 months to transfer balance from virgin. have to wait another 14 days for hsbc card because they have a backlog of 1500 applications. (due to mse?)
had a nightmare in past few weeks & today with hsbc- spent 40 mins on phone today just getting through to correct dept and don't trust them!
just read about mint deal -
a) should i apply for mint just in case hsbc card doesn't come through in time
hsbc said i had to wait for card before transfering balance from virgin- is this true? .
b) would my credit report show i now have 2 cards- hsbc & virgin
c) once i balance transfer should i close virgin credit card.
d) how likely i am to be accepted for mint
at moment stoozed money is being used to reduce interest on flexible mortgage.
thanks

I've posted several times recently that the best way to speed up your HSBC application (once you've made it online) is to call into branch with ID (2 forms for name and address), bank details, and credit card BT details.

They'll complete your application there and then, and your balance transfer will be completed in 3-4 days.

I speak from recent experience. ;)

    Apply online.....................Thursday (evening)
    Acceptance letter arrives...Tuesday
    Call in to branch...............Wednesday
    BT completed...................Monday

7 working days from start to finish!!

The card and PIN took another 3 days to arrive.

It's up to you whether you apply for Mint (either instead of, or as well as HSBC). However, you'll be aware that every Mint BT (including the anniversary offer) is subject to a 2% (max £49) BT fee - aren't you?

When you've cleared Virgin, call to ask to close it. Sometimes you get lucky and get offered an extension (S)BT.
