i have 2 dell pc,s, one of which is connected to broadband 512mb , my isp is telewest, i have a Motorola SB5101E surfboard cable modem.
The 2 pcs are approx 6mtr apart, what would i need to network these pcs, either wireless or with a cable.
Would like to get something in the sales, if possible.

Unlikely as the ISP is Telewest (ie. cable - not DSL). A cable router is what you need, though I personally have no experience of what to look for at all in a cable internet router. There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -

thanks for the replys so far, could any post some links to the type of cable router i req, as to be honest i have no idea, they dont have to be the cheapest, as i can do a price search.0 -
have done this for a friend, he wanted it doing as cheap as poss.
i bought another network card and 10 feet of crossover cable and used the pc with NTL access as a gateway for the other pc to access the net. down side is the pc with net access has to be on for the other pc to get net access0 -
Get a Crossover cable if it's just for the 2 PC's!
OR.
A Router, and 3 Standard Ethernet Cabled - One From each of the COmputers to the router, and one from the modem to the router.
The first option means that the main computer with the internet connection on at the moment will need to be on if the other is to be used.
The second option allows you to Use either system, at the same time or with either one on. In this case the modem is no longer connected to either system.
HTH..

goto ebuyer.com, networking, wired (or wireless), cable/dsl routers.
Using a router has the added advantage of a built in firewall, and they are only £18-45 (wireless are a few quid more)

Netgear are a good make in my experience (but not everyone agrees)
As hinted by Hunny's comment, you will need a cable/dsl broadband router, not Adsl (which is for BT lines)..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
