  • no debts :( i am a new tenant, which suppliers are cheaper?
  • the previous tenant also had no debts, the customer service adviser checked this too!
  • If you on a pre-payment meter I would be very surprised if you wouldn't be substantially better off with Ebico, personally. And to think there are some on here who think I'm trying to kill this company, lol. On your usage, I think you would be looking at approx £88 per month but maths was never my strong point...

PS This is on gas only, their electricity is ridiculously expensive for all except those with a one bar electric fire and a couple of candles...
    Call me Carmine....

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??
  • my next door neighbours are paying £40-£55 a month!!!

i can easy spend that in two weeks!!!

the customer service adviser says something is wrong, i shpuld not be paying so much for such a small usage. its killing me!!
  • now today i get a letter from scottish power, saying that they have not been recieving my payments, so i owe them £61?????

firstly, they did not call me back as promised, now they are trying to penalise me with a £61 bill although i am being overcharged for my gas??

this makes no sense to me, i made a complaint with a manager and was told i would get a call back in two weeks!!!

if i am not happy with the result i will switch suppliers.

i need some advice on this ASAP.

    Thanks

I'm in shock over my payments.

I've moved out of a 2 person, two bed, 2 storey house where heating, water heating and cooking was all gas and the total bill was £40 a month.

I'm now living in a one bed, one person, 3 room flat where cooking is electic, but heating and water heating is gas. And my bill - for just me - is being set by British Gas at £50 a month DD?!!!? They wanted me to set it at £70 a month but I said no.

Surely - even with the increase in gas costs, that's not right?

Could be - it depends on what your annual use is.

  • another update:
On 11th November 2008 I was issued a gas bill for £60.56 what i do not understand is i buy gas every week for £15-£20 i contacted scottish power several days ago in regards to never turning on my gas but when i do turn on the gas, the meter is set so high that it is charging me £1 an hour.

scottish power told me they would look into it, as according to scottish powers records i was not using much gas, some days zero units and other days up to 2 units!!

i never recieved the phone call that i was promised!

today, i called scottish power to be told that my payments have not been showing up on the system. i have been using a wrong card!! the card belongs to scottish power it is the third card scottish power have sent me since August, i am not requesting these cards, they keep being sent to me.when i call scottish power and enquire about the cards being sent, i have been advised to throw them away and use my card as it is a computer error sending out the cards.

now today i have been asked if i have kept my reciepts, just recently a threw away a handful of gas reciepts as i was doing a clear out in my property. scottish power say they will chase the payments and get back to me in two weeks!!!

my question is how could i owe £60+ gas if i am on a prepayment meter? if i do not top up the meter i get zero gas...who has made this figure up?

i will not hesitate to switch gas providers as i am certainly being ripped off by scottish power.

    regards

That sounds like scottish power alright...
When we moved in to our new flat we learnt that the gas was supplied by Scottish power, we then immediatley switched to ebico, or so we thought (but that's another story). No gas was used until we had confirmation of the switchover date (21st October), but Scottish power sent us a bill for £9... I'm sure these scammers 'try it on' as a lot of people will pay a bill without thinking. The only problem was that the gas is supplied by a pre-payment meter, no credit = no gas.
