Should Bank pay for fraud on my account???

I have recently had some fraud activity on by current account, they paid a cheque in for £8.5k, then made 4 payments with a cloned card for a total of £9,863. The bank accepted all these payments from my card in "one" day even though there wasn't enough money!!!
This took my account into overdraft and beyond, the problem was that there was £6k in holding waiting to go out, they then blocked my account and told me the only way the fraud could be traced was to have an emergency od for the money to go out.......anyway due to them blocking the account it left me with no money for 11 days, they have also charged me for going od and for missed DD due to insufficient funds. it is still ongoing after 16 phone calls, and 7 visits to the branch, and still isn't sorted after 24 days. I have to go into the branch to get money, with 3 forms of id and they will only give me £200 a time.
Should I put a complaint in and ask for compensation??? for hardship, cost of my time and inconvenience etc??? and if so how much?
At the end of the day alarm bells should of rung there end with my card being used for £10k worth of transactions in one hour?

So, the bank will repay all the fraud on your account, and YOU want compensation? Of course they will repay the fees but it is reasonable for you to have some "unpaid" inconvenience. The fraudsters were at fault here, not your bank who will take the charge.0

I agree that the fraudsters are ultimetly responsable, but surely the bank should take some blame, they released £10k in a day from my card!!!! It has cost me probably over £400 (lost time at work, having to go in to the branch, phone calls sometimes being on hold for 45mins) being treated like a fraudster myself!!! and also being without money for 11 days, with 2 kids to feed?0

Is there a way for you to say to the bank "if my balance is less than x amount do not accept any further transactions"?0
-
But they allowed payment to be debited £6k beyond my OD limit!!!!!!!
Surely they should of rejected the transactions anyway, or at least some of them?0 -
It seems ridiculous that the bank did not phone you to check the transaction, my bank once rang to confirm a transaction of 1p!!!! But to be honest if you can get all the fees back from the bank, I think that is all you can get, as it is the fraudster's actions not the bank's.0

What bank do you have account with? That's some crazy situation I'd say. They should have phoned you.0

I once spend £4000 on my card in about 30 mins booking a holiday. Used different sites to book the hotel, plane tickets etc and they never rang me.
If the same amount had come out from a foriegn site, i think they may have flagged it0 -
I work overseas and use to take at the time around £200. I have tried once to take an amount of £30 and my card was blocked. They call me at home immediately; when I did call them back (RBS), the bank says that it was an unusual transaction for what I use to do.
Bank should ring the bells if the transactions are unusual for your pattern.0 -
The bank in question is Abbey................0

I have a deep burning indifference0
