Car Data Check

Hi all, anybody know if there any car data check offers on at the mo
and could you recommend a site - looking at RAC for £9.99 includes mileage check as well.

Reason being I have just bought a car from a car supermarket and they wanted to charge me £104 to have it valeted, given a pre delivery inspection, hpi and mileage check. I said no thanks, but where do I stand legally if something is wrong with the car?.

Well it's a bit late now TBH. If you had asked them specifically if it had been declared a write off, they'd have to tell you but they don't have to volunteer the information so as you didn't and they didn't tell you, if it subsequently turns out to have been a write off, you've no comeback on that. There's no point doing a HPI check for finance because they'll have done it when they bought it and likewise to see if it was stolen. If it subsequently turns out it was stolen and is a ringer, you can come back to them for selling a car that wasn't theirs anyway but make sure you keep the receipt. Mileages can be fiddled that much as to make a check on them basically worthless, especially on a car under 3 years old which won't have had an MOT.

Ive only paid a small deposit for the car so if I find it has been written off I'd rather lose my deposit, anyway if they have done a HPI check in the first place they will know its a write off and surely must declare that to you as they are knowing selling the car, just as you would have comeback if it was a ringer or it was stolen.
