Great Alkaline AA/AAA Battery Hunt

Seeing as Christmas is nearly upon us, and Santa has a penchant for electronic toys, we are all likely to need a huge amount of AA and AAA batteries to get through the christmas holidays.
The requirements are simple. Batteries must be Alkaline, can be any brand (or non-branded), as in tests for medium/low drain applications all Alkalines are near equal. For high drain applications (remote controlled cars / digital cameras etc.) you'd be better off buying rechargables rather than Ultra's etc.
Please quote where, name of battery, pack size, price and price/battery (to nearest p). i.e.

Battery - Panasonic Extreme Power (980/2773)
Pack Size - 20 x AA
Price - £4.99
Per Battery = 25p

Good prices, I noted upon my last visit to PC World that on the service desk they had a container to collect old batteries, AA,AAA,C,D,PP3 etc (not car batteries :-)) better than dropping them in the bin.0

I was in Halfords yesterday.
They are currently doing their own brand of alkalines.
A pack of 16 for £3.99 for AA or AAA but its a Bogoff so pretty good value.
You can also mix and match AA with AAA if you want.0 -
I always use rechargables in everything now, might be the odd toy that still has the original batteries with it though. We got loads from Tesco on home delivery and used 1000 point voucher as well!! Delivery man must have though we was nuts! Loads of cheap batteries - ideal to bump the shopping up and get your extra points now they are putting it up to £75 instead of £50 for 1000 points.0 -

The pound store in York has packs of 8 x AA alkalines (with a batman returns keyring) for £1 . Brand is Cegasa.

Some people are posting non-alkaline batteries (i doubt the wilko 72p ones are the alkalines). These are NOT comparable and are not a bargain. The pound shop sells packs of about 32 AA batteries for a quid (like the crawley offer posted). But they are rubbish and often even leak if left in for a long time ( causing damage).0 -

you are much better with rechargeable Nimh batteries for most stuff, except smoke alarms....I buy my AA 2500mah's from vapextech (not affiliated - very high feedback rated - 12000+) on ebay
- I bought 32 batteries for £29.00 (plus £2.00 delivery)...more exp than alkalines but will last up to 1000 times...so miles cheaper...assuming you only get 500 charges.....thats still only £0.0019 per battery!!
esp for kids toys as alkalines last under 1 day unless the kids reminder to turn the items off
