Thanks for that.
If you haven't made or bought your christmas cake then I can highly recommend the recipe in this link:-

I am having a stress-free Christmas in that I have used the money I have saved (being the good little MS I am) to eat out on Christmas day. So whilst everyone else is faffing about with turkeys and brussel sprouts my family will be eating a five course dinner in a restaurant - hurrah!0

And no washing up!

:xmastree: I'm having a stress free Christmas - my daughters are cooking Christmas dinner! :xmassign: :snow_laug :j :xmassmile :rudolf:0

I cook the meat the day before, leave it to cool then slice and pop onto a covered dish in the fridge ready to be heated up in gravy on the big day while the vegetables are cooking. My dd always does the ham (Nigella Lawson recipe cooked in cola, which is really yummy btw) and I normally cook a joint of meat in the slow cooker. This means I can do other things like wrapping those last minute gifts! We always stop everything by the evening and light up the candles, try to think about the real meaning of Christmas, listen to some Christmas Carols and open the quality street! :rudolf:
Always remember that Christmas will happen whether we are ready or not! :xmassmile Once I realised that I stopped panicking!

carol_a wrote:I always do the bulk of my present shopping online so I don't have to battle with traffic, car parks, queues and losing my handbag as I did in M&S on Monday...eeek!! (It's OK, it was handed in to customer services but it was a stomach churning moment!)
I also try and get all the presents bought, if not wrapped by the first week in December so I'm then free to concentrate on food shopping, cooking etc.
My big "must do" every year though is lists...lots and lots of lovely lists. I think I'm a bit of a list-aholic and can't function without them.
Also, instead of having a massive card writing session, I just do half a dozen or so each evening during the first week of December whilst having my TV soap fix and pop them in the letter box the next morning.

It all sounds very organised. I hope to be organised with the presents by the weekend, as I think I have bought the majority of them. (Then i remembered by cousin's twins Birthday this weekend, whoops, off to the shops I go again).
I like your philosophical approach to it all though. Reading your comments has spured me to make in-roads into my Christmas schedule.keep smiling,

Me too... I have lists and notes for everything... not just for Christmas but throughout the year. If is not written down it does'nt get done, or does not exist - lol. I write all my things down on the large or medium sized Post-Its. I even have Post-Its to remind I have other Post-Its to read! If I worry about something ...I check my lists... if its not on the list then I stop worrying...

we did christmas at our house last year, and since we also celebrate yule (dec 21) it was a bit much i must say
going to mil's this year though...very stress free, she won't let anyone do anything other than set the table!
actually, i do kinda find that stressful, not being able to help as in my family in the states everyone chipped in and it was lovely family time
i actually prefer my mil to my own mom but she is just so used to doing it all herself she said she finds having someone else in the kitchen stressfuloh well
