My 18 year old daughter paid for a pair of mini speakers last week to go with her Nokia phone. When they arrived the box was very battered and the speakers wouldn't work. She plugged them into her laptop and they worked on and off when the wires were wiggled. She tried them with her mobile again and they again only worked intermittently.
The firm told her to send them back, which we did, at our own cost. They have emailed to say the speakers have been tested and are not faulty. They say they will send the speakers back to us (probably at our cost too) but we want a refund. They say they can't sell them to anyone else because of the state of the box! Well, it was delivered to us in that state, so not our fault! They are refusing to give a refund and we don't know what to do now.

How did she pay?
Was the package poorly wrapped then?0 -
It was sent in a normal jiffy envelope. She paid with her solo card online.0

Sorry to hear this, Go down the usual route.
Tell them that you will send them a 'solicitor's' letter in the post in 3 working days.
That usually can be a good warning, Tell them that they don't know who they are dealing with, And that upsetting you could be more than trouble for them.
Or even tell them you are a 'solicitor'
See what they say then?
The 'soft' approach doesn't work now.
I remember having trouble with 'Carnation' they wouldn't give me a refund, So I sent a 'Local' hardman down to see them.
He is 'Hard' and doesn't care what people think or say, Or what the police will do.
He doesn't show that he is a hardman thou.
I got my money back.

We have told them we are taking it to the small claims court. Im not sure what this entails though or if its an advisable route.0

Sorry to hear of your daughter's trouble; that can be a problem with buying stuff online- you can't see what you're getting.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

I can tell you now they won't believe that.
When I used to work in retail sometimes the customers would just make laws up etc. They were all Trading Standards officers as well as their career!:rolleyes:0 -
Unfortunately you are not going to get anywhere, taking them to court without any "evidence" (which you sent back)is a bad idea!click here to achieve nothing!0

I think the OP is protesting too much. If everyone did it then it would have an adverse effect on the economy and another bank would collapse.
May I suggest we rally round and cosume alot more.0
