Currently in process of getting quotes - first one in is at £3500 for labour only to do following.
bath one: take out and refit bath (something screwy with the original pipework), take off original tiling and retile (3 sides round bath), make false wall at end of bath and put shelves/cupboard in (have spare space of about a foot or so there), replace taps (bath and sink)/shower fitment, fit shower screen, retile sink splashback
bath two: take off and retile (two sides of bath, one includes tricky bit round window), install new taps (bath and sink)/shower fitment, install new standalone shower cubicle, retile sink splashback
This is in East London. Any comments - or recommendations gratefully received.

shop around and get a minimum of three quotes before accepting!
Plumbing/tiling can be such a hit and miss trade with prices/quality of workmanship.
If at all possible go with a recommendation if not don't be frightened to shop around.
in Scotland for that job the price would be less than half what you have been quoted.
Good luck and lets us know how you get on.0

OMG Wouldnt pay that either ...
Is it not easier and less messy to tile over tiles, or have I been watching the wrong programmes on tv ??No Signature Required ......0

I have just completely refurbished a bathroom apart from the actual plaster, ceiling and floorboards although I did have hardboard put on top of the floorboards so that the vinly would lie flat as they were uneven.
Tiled floor to ceiling - I bought the tiles in Wickes - white bumpy - at 1/2 price
£113.00 for 12 packs I think. Vinyl I bought as an offcut in a local carpet shop - £20
Was extememly cheaky and went to Plumbase saying I had been sent their by someone to choose my suite and pay for it as 'he' had an account and was fitting it. Bought steel bath with handles, inset ceramic sink and toilet with flushing cystern (don't like the push button ones), chrome taps and waste fittings all for £234!
Bought a vanity unit in B&Q with £10 off for £59, expandable shower pole (up to 8') in Wilkinsons at £8.99, (I did not want to screw into tiles and bath too near window for screen), Mira Sport 9 kw shower for £164, and let a painter, decorator do the work for me. I cannot say how much he charged labour but to decorate the whole house and tile round worktops in kitchen at a total cost (him supplying paint and bath panel) at £4,750.
I guess labour (to include an electrician to cable in shower if old cable not suitable) should be no more that £400-£500.

Still trying to get the quotes in. Plans changed a bit - second bathroom is now being cut in half so half ensuite and half walk in wardrobe - nothing fancy - open hanging space and shelving. If it ever gets done, will post the experiences. Thanks all."When I get a little money I buy books; and if any is left I buy food and clothes" - Erasmus0

I would have thought around £2000 would cover the labour but you're in an area where it's difficult to find good trades people at a good price. Keep trying, when you find one good and reasonably priced trades person they are bound to be able to recommend the other trades to you that will likely be in the same price bracket as themselves.0

MSP, Quick question, if I may - I have a Monsoon 3 bar pump in the system cos without it the hot water comes out at the rate of one drip per hour. When looking at shower units does this count as having a "high pressure system"? Just notice that different showers have different disclaimers depending on whether it's for a combi boiler or standard boiler etc etc (mine is a standard boiler with hot water tank)

Get a quote from a bullder from out of the area and pay them to travel in to do the work.
My Uncle has been successfully picking up work and travelling in from Southend for years all because he is cheaper and prepared to travel into London.Unfortunaley he is a electrian sorry.0
