Sweat in the City is an exciting new initiative to get young women all over London feeling fitter, happier and healthier.
We’re offering free gym membership for three months to 3,000 lucky young women, as well as exclusive Sweat in the City benefits such as top exercise tips, group work-out sessions and access to a special members-only web community.

The commitment
If you are chosen to take part, all we ask is that you:
- Log your progress on the website and share your experiences
- Fill out a short survey at the beginning and end of the programme.
- Try your best to attend the gym at least three times a week
Your feedback, and that of the other girls on the project, is important to us. It will help us build a big picture of what activities young women, like you, enjoy and what motivates you to take part in regular exercise.
In a nutshell, your experiences will help us to help more women enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle.
- Be female - sorry, no boys allowed
- Be aged between 16 and 24 (as of 1st October 2008)
- Live in one of the 33 London boroughs
- Be someone who does little or no exercise at the moment (less than 30 minutes of moderate intensity activity three times a week)
- Not currently have a leisure centre, sports club or gym membership
- Be prepared to feedback on your experience

I mean, you can joke about it, but it is. From what I see around me, it seems there are far more unhealthy Burger King-chowing fat fellas in need of the gym than there are women.
That in itself may be a product of different sex discrimination - i.e. the media's constant focus on the need for women to look good - but let's not fix that discrimination-against-women with discrimination-against-men.
Why not just open this up for men and women? I hate things being restricted to one sex group, we're all human beings after all and none of us would be here without our "differently-genitalled" counterparts!
Or could the real reason for the narrow focus on 18-24 year old women be that the whole thing is being funded by HornyWorkoutBabes.com, who will be equipping all the gyms with hidden cams..? There's no such thing as free lunch!0 -

This was advertised in our local paper last week and my daughter signed up for it.
She got accepted and starts Tuesday at a really nice gym down the road from us.
Well handy cos her baby is now 11 weeks old so she is ready for exercise and toning up! (plus Nanny gets to babysit!)I'm a Nanny again! 23rd April 2012
Elijah arrived 7 weeks early, 4lb 6.5ozs struggling a bit but in neo natal so well looke after!
