European Energy Prices - the Truth !

There are several threads running concerning energy prices in "rip-off" Britain. These have now degenerated into personal sniping and rather pointless nit-picking.
Below are Eurostat (EU Statistics Office) figures for European energy prices; from these it would appear that we are not getting a bargain, neither are we being ripped off - in fact prices in UK would appear to be pretty "average" !
I daresay that someone will say that prices have risen a lot since these figures were complied - true, but I should imagine the basic ratio of prices has remained pretty constant between the various nations. They may not show accurate prices but they give a good indication of where prices are cheap or otherwise!

Whilst I am sure they are arrived at by utilising a much more scientific method than Altarf's random back of a fag packet calculation, the fact remains (as you have alluded to yourself) that these figures are 17 months out of date. A lot can happen in 17 months (if you use Altarf's theory a lot can happen in a day with exchange rate fluctuations, lol).
Plus, have the figures been adjusted with regard to them being a %tage of houehold income? That would be the TRUE arbiter of cost of fuel. For instance, Denmark is an expensive country, but are their wages proportionately higher than in the UK? I'm suspecting they are...Call me Carmine....

There was lots of bluster (especially from Cardew, I have a feeling he may have had a shandy or 2 on Saturday evening then regretted posting what he had come Sunday morning, lol) on the other thread but not one of you even attempted to debunk my theory about the exchange rates skewing the figures to make Altarf's figures meaningless. Why not? I've noticed something about you 2 - you're fine until someone has the temerity to challenge you, then get all huffy, lol. Each to their own.Call me Carmine....

In my opinion there is another factor we need to know what % do these countries use for primary heating.
The reason is in Sweden I believe they use log burners as the main source of heat thus the price of gas can be higher as the usage is alot lower I think this may be the same for allot of the countries as this will have large bearing on households, not sure about industry though.Look after the pennies and the pounds will spend themselves0 -
