Hello.....
Don't know if anyone can help me I recently injured myself at work. I reported the accident to the social security office and was sent a form to fill in to receive industrial injuries benefit.
I have filled this in and are awaiting their reply. Does anybody know what I will get in way of benefit if they say I am entitled to it? I'm currently only getting SSP from my employer, will this make a difference?
Any advice would be greatfully received as I do not know much about claiming benefits.
Thanks!

You will find details of the amounts paid out at DWP Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (accidents) website
There is a downloadable leaflet here Disabled because of an accident at work? (SD7)
and a very much more detailed Technical Guide A guide to the Industrial Injuries Scheme benefits (DB1 Apr 2004) here
You will be examined by a Medical Services doctor and many people have found these doctors take a more optimist view of your prognosis than your own health professionals. You may find you need to challenge the level of disablement they regard you as having. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

My friend claimed industrial injuries for lifting a fridge at work which damaged his back he was a chief. they granted it and also back dated it giving him a lump sum.
when he asked the job centre was told other benifits were not affected as it was just like dla.
they forgot to mention that it is counted as an income and specifically affected his housing benifit and guess what they back dated the over payment in housing benifit because of the income from industrial injuries.
hes now in rent arrears and wishes he had never claimed.
i wouldnt like anyone else to end up in this postion .0
