Price changes - what's allowed, what's not?

What can energy companies do to prices and still call it the same product?
NPower have sign online 12, SOL12.
My pricing before the price rise was:
First 728 units: 28p
Then: 5p
Now:
First 728 units: 15p
Then: 12p
The teir 2 price has increased over 200%
The new structure is no longer suitable for single energy households who use more electricity and no gas.
This HUGE jump in the Teir 2 pricing has a detrimental impact on above average users, who were being clearly targetted by the orginial pricing at launch (28p for T1 is the highest in my area).
Surely is has gone above and beyond a price change and is more of a product change?
Can anyone confirm any cases where people have challenged the companies on these types of changes?

This appears to be another of npowers underhand tactics, SoL 10 has done the same.
I hope several thousand if not millions of customers have/will challenge this by switching to a more moral supplier.0 -
