Peugoet non refundable depost!

My wife has paid the local Peugoet dealer a £200 depost and booked her van in for Saturday to carry out the repairs(totallling £500). The problem is that we don't have the money to do these repairs, when I phoned a couple of hours later and ask Peugoet for the depost back I was told 'no'. The part had been order so it was to late to cancel. Can Peugoet do this?

It depends on the item in question. Where I work you can send any item back, and even order parts 'speculatively' and return them no problems. There are a few exceptions with accessories and non-UK stock items.

Sounds a bit harsh but could be right?!

I would assume that a fair bit of the £500 is for labour. So if for example it was £250 for parts and £250 for labour and they say they can't refund, due to having already bought the part (ordered & commited), then I would ask for the part in question as you have effectively paid for it, even if it means having to find a bit more money.

Because you're going to have to have the work done at some point and you may as well keep the part.

agree with roadhog. if it can't be returned, offer to pay them for the parts. they won't do the work if they know you can't afford it, so they'll either sell you the parts or return the parts and give you your car.
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?
