Adaware is a good Freebie so is Spybot Search and Destroy...
or Microsofts AntiSpyware Beta Aint to bad...0 -
The Microsoft one is probably the best of the freebies. AdAware and Spybot have slipped slightly in comparison to other products on the market, they're in the "average" kind of category.
Spyware Doctor (£20) or CounterSpy (£12) are two of the best. To be honest though you should be fine with the free suggestions. For £12 CounterSpy is a worthy paid for product."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

but could be of some use...... http://www.adwarereport.com/mt/archives/000008.html
Oh yeah Microsoft have made it harder for Fire Fox users to
download the AntiSpyware Software as the MS Validation Tool
wont run in FF only IE so I suggest that FF users View the page
in IE for the download....
MS AntiSpyware http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
FF IEView Extension https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=35&application=firefox
And any Users without a Valid Genuine copy of XP dont bother
as you will not get the Anti Spyware to download....0 -

Perhaps the Spyware Warrior site is worth a look, particularly the Anti-Spyware Comparison and Anti-Spyware Testing sections...

Hi
Since the advent of Windows Update Validation Ver6.0
if this is turned off you wont get Antispyware as it needs to be running.

Spyware Eliminator did look promising, until I read this..http://www.spywareinfo.com/newsletter/archives/1104/4.php
Apparently Aluria has teamed up with WhenU.com, a well known adware company. Yikes.0 -
I've always used Adaware, and it works fairly well, although I would recommend maybe using 2 spyware programs, as they are not 100% perfect, and some will miss stuff that others wont, and vice versa.0
