All Change at Pharos International

I have often used Pharos International to send parcels to overseas buyers and have been well impressed. Went to get a quote today only to find they are now part of the Pitney Bowes empire and no longer do the parcel service. :(

However, there is a new company called Pharos Parcel which does what Pharos International used to do. Website at http://www.pharosparcel.com/

I booked a collection Tuesday afternoon for a large expensive parcel to go to Italy as the rate is good and the extra insurance rate was also good. Waited in all day today wednesday - failed collection. They still us UPS who have been great before. I hope they turn up tomorrow.

Keep us posted on how it goes. I always found pharos international / UPS to be very reliable.

They turned up thursday. Reason given by Pharos was there was some sort error when the data went to UPS. It sounded like a teething problem with their new website. When I called Pharos first thing Thursday I got straight through and spoke to someone but when i tried to call back several times later in the day to double check it would be collected i was repeatedly put through to an answer machine. Had i not got through first thing i would have been really peed off by the answerphone.
I think they will be OK again and it was just a glitch.

I used to use PI quite a few times and found them to be good. I find the prices on this new website to be quite expensive, especially when you add insurance.

They have failed to pick up booked in items for a couple of days and I can't get an answer on the phone. Anyone else had any problems this week?
  • Pharos Parcel have failed to collect my parcel two days running. There is only an answer phone service. I phoned UPS directly as Pharos use them for delivery and booked it in directly through them. They had not received my Pharos booking at all but said it was fine to do it through them since I had the label printed out from booking online with Pharos. Looks like something is happening with Pharos but can't understand why they don't withdraw their website until problems are fixed.

I tried them again today with another parcel to italy. it was collected but UPS had to call me to get my address details so there is still a problem with the link between pharos website where you input the details and ups. I would not reccomend them until someone posts that it is working properly.
  • Any update on this / recent experiences? Or alternatives. Thanks.
