Hiya, you could try the online calculator here, just input your details and should give you some idea.

You should note that the IR calculator shows you the amount you are entitled to this year if you applied now i.e. it shows you a partial year award.

If you want to see what your full year entitlement is, then look at https://www.entitledto.org

I'm assuming that you don't have children, so don't get any TCs at the moment. Have you applied already and got a zero award? This will affect what you are entitled to.

Your calculation is quite difficult and depends on your exact circumstances and what you mean by reducing your income - presumably you've already earned around £8,500 this year, so are you talking about giving up work completely?
  • no, I earn 17,340 pa. I need to reduce my hours because I injured my back and I am struggling to work full time.

Tax Credits will increase as amaximum of 37% of (17340-8500=8840) = #3200.

But that depends on whether you have a partner/kids
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
