Switching From Brit Gas To Sainsbury
Options
Hi,
I've just recived an email from Sainsburys saying that If I switch to them for a 12 month fixed tariff they will send me £50 worth of vouchers. I'm currently with British Gas for my gas supply. Does anyone think this is a good move, or will the tariff be much higher with Sainsbury's than British Gas right now (if that's possible!)

Depends where you live.
Beware anybody on here who 'advises' without first asking this.
1 From your post I assume you have electricity with one supplier and gas with BG? Well, for a start, you are paying right now 110% more for your gas than the cheapest standard tariff alternative supplier.
2 Sainsbury's energy are Scottish Power, again, only good for you depending on where you live.
3 And it's very difficult to go into much detail on what you have posted, can you not give some figures?0 -
Actually Sainsburys are now EDF- and have been for about three years!
I have just swapped onto their dual fuel capped tarrif deal (til end 2009), For me it is much cheaper than previously having gas with BG and electric with Eon.
I have always had excellent service form them too- no automated menus, just a voice straight away.. Plus nectar points- for joining, and then each quarter too (useful for christmas).Halifax Credit Card: [STRIKE]£4915[/STRIKE] NEXT Directory: [STRIKE]£1980[/STRIKE]JD Williams: [STRIKE]£1984[/STRIKE] British Gas: [STRIKE]£394[/STRIKE] First Direct [STRIKE]£2985[/STRIKE]Debt-free for over 2 years now!!! :j0 -
Sainsbury's (EDF)
Joined up in store and got £5 voucher instantly. 0800 number and everything
arrives when it should all nice and clear.
British Gas have issued the final electricity bill based on their own estimates not the final reading, one to watch out for ours was over £30 dearer than it should have been. For some strange reason the gas bill which we pay quarterly was billed from the beginning of 2008. why?
Expect lots of calls from customer services. they offered 10% off.
When i explained why i was leaving (customer services being as helpful as a brick wall to bang your head on) she sounded suprised.
They increased my direct debit to over double what it was without notifying me, all because over 12 months i was in arrears of £60.
£60 over 12 months = £5pm. Why are you increasing my monthly direct debit from £35 to £72?
Because you are in arrears. And i could goto my bank and reclaim the direct debit they took without notifying me.
Robot on the phone said she could not lower the direct debit as the computer generates it from the previous bills, I think it needs new batteries.
In the end i started getting annoyed and told her.. CANCEL THE DIRECT DEBIT. i do not want to pay by direct debit anymore.
Miracle she suddenly managed to work out a new amount of £50. within 6 months we are in credit enough to cancel the direct debit the month before we transferred to EDF.
The lumps on my forehead are slowly getting better
Rant Over, sorry
check your final bill carefully0
