smelly smelly clothes! what's up?

ok, so they go in the washing machine and go onto the clothes horse. there's going to be an obvious answer to this! some of them almost instantly smell vile - really vile. why? what am i doing wrong? some of them only smell vile in patches? surely i'm not *that* useless that i can't wash clothes?! am i?

i've no idea, my clothes always smell fresh and clean, ya are putting washing powder and softener in arn't ya ?

When you say vile do you mean musty, damp or what?Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
Are you overfilling your washer? They may not get properly clean. Or do you leave them in there for a while? That will make them smell. Do you shut the washer door after every wash? Doing this can cause a build up of bacteria in the washer and make it smell and can transfer onto the clothes. This is especially so if the room it is in is rather warm. Leaving it open will help it to dry out instead of leaving it damp and encouraging the bacteria.
Other than that I would agree with rushy and helen, either the cat !!!!!! in it or its knackered.

Have you pulled out the detergent drawer and cleaned it? I had the same problem and that was the cause. Run the machine empty on a hot wash afterwards.
Also, Comfort pearls are super smellySilence is more musical than any song0 -
