I am currently living at home with my parents, but circumstances are changing and i may have to move out on my own.
The problem is, i take home on average £1500 a month and am going on a debt plan to rid my £12k of debt accumulated from loans, finance agreements etc...
Would i be entitled to any kind of housing benefit etc...?
Thanks,
Andy

It depends on which area you live in, and how old you are. You would need to be in a pretty expensive area to qualify for benefits on your income.Gone ... or have I?0

i would suggest no because that would be approx 25 k before tax and thats considered a decent income

As you are under 25 you would only qualify for the room/ shared facilities LHA rate. You will not qualify for any assistance with housing costs.Gone ... or have I?0

the best you could hope for is a 25% single occupant discount on council tax
the thing to do if you could is to carry on living with your parents and concentrate on lowering that debt0 -
£25k income is a good income.
Benefits are for the low paid and/or unemployed.
Your debts are completely irrelevant0 -
May help to have a look at the old style board and see how far you stretch your resources, and get some help on the debt free to see if you can reduce outgoings etc.0

You earn more than me and I can tell you that I am not entitled to any benefits what-so-ever (we are also the same age). Unfortunately debts are not taken into account. You will get the single persons rate on Council Tax if living on your own (as mentioned), but that's about it I'm afraid. It may be different in your area, but I very much doubt it to be honest.Debt: £5343.67 + secured loan (August 2008)Target: Just learn to 'manage' at the moment!0
