Spanish Homes Magazine: Win a week’s holiday for six in Catalonia!

Holidaylettings.co.uk is offering one lucky reader the chance to win a week’s holiday, for up to six people, in a wonderful villa in beautiful Catalonia. L’Esplai is Catalan for wellbeing and this perfectly describes the ambience of this villa, which is in a quiet but spectacular location overlooking the bay of S’Agaro, with views up the coast to Palamos and down to Sant Feliu.

There is a beautiful private garden with a large heated swimming pool, and round oak table and stools, which are perfect for outside entertaining and barbecues. This area can be lit up in the evenings so alfresco dinner parties can go on long into the night.

The property offers three bedrooms (two en suite with double beds, and a twin/double with a separate bath/shower room). The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a covered veranda for dining. The living area is tastefully furnished and decorated and provides satellite TV and a stereo.

For those who want to catch a few rays, there is a private sundeck on the roof that cannot be overlooked, or alternatively the beautiful town of Sant Feliu and its beach, and the lovely bay and beach of S’Agaro are within walking distance

It is possible to reach the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona in an hour, where you can shop alongside some of Europe’s most fashionable people, and where the influence of Gaud! seems to pervade on every corner. Salvador Dali was also from this area and his museum is a short drive at Figueres, or visit pretty Cadaqu!s where he spent most of his creative years.

If you fancy a contrast in language and culture, why not drive over the French border, which is a little more than 50 miles north of the L’Esplai? Some of the best sailing in Europe is off the Costa Brava, and the Medes Islands is a marine national park providing great scuba diving. There is no shortage of activity for all the family with the Costa Brava’s famous beaches and coves, a water-park, several carting tracks, cycle routes, mountain walks, a butterfly park and much, much more, all within easy reach.

Barcelona voted to ban bullfighting but they still fight there mostly to tourists, I think so I would probably rule that out. I know both Valencia and Madrid have bullrings and I'm imagining Madrid's is bigger.
