'Credit Reference Agencies - Who uses who' article

Just received the following in the moneytips newsletter...

Based on this, is it saying if you have a bad rating with say Equifax & Experian, it doesn't matter with American Express & Skipton Building Society as they don't use them?

I'm a tad confused and don't want to apply for anything if I'm going to be rejected!

    American Express do use Experian and, I am told, they also sometimes use Equifax. They also report account activity to both CRAs.
