I don't know if this is in all Asda First Choice travel agents (currency exchange )
They are offering $50 free when you put $700 the new American Express Travellers Cheque Card
I know Travelex offer better exchange rates today £1..........$1.716 and First Choice £1...... $1.68 but I think it is still a good deal...unless anyone knows better.
Offer also on euros

EDIT: 'Buy the NEW American Express Travellers Cheque Card by 14th October, and we'll give you up to 100 free Euro or US Dollars. '
It looks like this offer has expired ...0 -
This offer is current in Thomsons and First Choice Travel (Asda) until 31st October
Asda now seem to be offering lower exchange rate than Thomsons.
Today thomsons were offering an exchange rate of $1.68 equal to $1.80 if you take into account the free $50 but only if you use the card as you would a credit card, charges if you take cash from ATM of £1.50 per transaction0 -
Just got $1.677 at Thomsons, which with the extra $50 bonus equates to S1.797. Was told no charges at ATM but we will see. Offer valid to 31 October. Minimum purchase 700 us$ or euros. Up to 4 cards per family.0

According to Amex terms and conditions there is an ATM charge of £1.50 or 2 euro or $2.50

I was looking at the Travelex equivalent of this. Again in the terms and conditions it mentions various outlets actually adding in as a norm 10-20% service charge. If I can find the link to that I will edit this post and include it.
Found the link. Take a look at this. A bit OTT in my opinion.

Thanks. Suspected there would be a charge. But extra $50 comes in handy.0

You're right monkeyspammer, whichever way you look at it your $50 gives you 20 withdrawals and you know your money is safe,Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

Most questions answered here. (sorry can't do the click here thingy)

You can draw up to £250 in $ or euro per day so if you have put in $700 to get the free $50 it will cost £3 or $5 to use atm to get cash that still means a rate of $1.787 (I got $1.68 originally before adding in free $50)
I have been assured that if the card is used for purchases no charge, I think the 10-20% (refered to in earlier post) is a service charge or tip in Hotels and Restaurants and I don't think charged in shops
Also they help if you loose your passport0
